About Steve and Lisa.
Holding black belts in several martial arts, Sensei Steve is a 8th degree black belt in Uechi-Ryu Karate and a Hanshi (master level instructor). Steve has over 40 years experience in the martial arts and over 25 years as a professional martial arts instructor. He has taught police and JAG’s as well as regular guys. His techniques have stood the true test in Afganistan as well as in real life self defense and arrest situations. Steve has been teaching in the martial arts for over 30 years. He was selected to receive a teaching fellowship designed and led by faculty from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
Steve is also a noted national public speaker – his specialty is presentation, team building and entrepeneurial success. Check out his new blog here.
Sensei Lisa has been teaching at the college level for over 20 years as well as extensive teaching with ages K-12. Lisa has been studying Uechi-Ryu karate for over 21 years and is a 6th degree black belt and holds the title of Renshi (master instructor). Her teaching philosophy is to give students the opportunity to grow in an environment that is both fun and challenging.
In short: We know how to teach and we have the resume (and passionately satisfied students) to prove it! We blend modern athletic coaching concepts, tried and true educational techniques and the best of traditional Asian Martial arts training methods to bring out the best in every student.
At The Dojo we make the experience rewarding and fun for everyone.
